The Wailers, at Tally Ho Theater, Leesburg VA.

The Wailers

The legendary Wailers continue their quest to bring reggae to the forefront of the world’s stage.  Led by renowned bassist and founder Aston “Familyman” Barrett, and joined by original Wailers guitarist Donald Kinsey, The Wailers give audiences around the globe the opportunity to experience their unique and innovative sound. From 1972 to 1980, Bob Marley & The Wailers recorded, toured, and performed before countless millions worldwide. Since 1981, Familyman has carried on the mission to “keep The Wailers together” – just as Bob requested.

Since Bob Marley’s untimely passing in 1981, Familyman vowed to keep a promise he made to his leader and friend – that he would hold the band together and maintain the music’s quality, to “keep me [Bob Marley] alive through music.” The message is still Burnin’, the Exodus of Jah people continues, Uprising and Survival remain the call to fans. The incomparable Wailers are coming to Babylon by Bus, to rock the stage, to bring the magic and message of Roots Rasta Reggae. It’s a Rastaman Vibration: a slice of music history you must not miss. Legend.

About The Members:

In tribute to the late co-founder and drummer Carlton “Carly” Barrett, The Wailers present Familyman’s multi-talented son, Aston Barrett Jr. It’s startling to witness how the young powerhouse delivers with his uncle’s inspiring landmark “one drop” drumming style. Also on stage is polished background singer Shema McGregor, daughter of I Three singer Judy Mowatt and Reggae pioneer Freddie McGregor.

Accompanying the legends and children-of-legends on stage are many other talented musicians: bass guitarist Owen “Dreadie” Reid, a former student of Familyman who also plays bass with Julian Marley’s Uprising band; front man Joshua David Barrett, Rastaman by lifestyle and culture, who delivers Bob’s powerful message of Jah love and unity through his performance and interaction with the audience; Andres Lopez on keyboards, who has performed with artists such as Alborosie, Lutan Fyah, and Anthony B.; and Anne-Marie Thompson, an experienced gospel singer. FOH/Sound engineer is Christian Cowlin, a Wailers Band veteran who has traveled the world with The Wailers for more than 20 years and who is responsible for the band’s live sound.

The Wailers On Stage Presence:

The Wailers wailed for around 2 hour or so, with a quick encore. Their stage presence was felt and loved by all in the audience. Thought out the night the audience members sang along and waved during every song. All of the band members, took time out after the show, signing autographs and engaging with fans with photos.

Sun Dogs – A Tribute To Rush

In the wake of Rush’s final tour, Sun Dogs was formed with the goal of reproducing the sounds of rock’s finest Canadian trio.

About The Members:

Mark Schenker of multi-platinum selling recording and touring artist KIX takes on many roles, including bass, lead vocals, keyboards and bass pedals. Andy Rabin handles the guitars and bass pedals, and even chimes in with some backing vocals. On drums and all things that can be hit with a drum stick, from drum triggers to a MalletKAT, is Vince Tricarico.

Feeling The Moment:

The biggest challenge for the band, aside from the complexity of the music itself. Is creating all that sound with only three people. Vince says, But that’s a big part of what makes it fun for us and for our fans. Vince has big shoes to fill and does so with both aplomb and a massive drum kit. Sometimes I think the drum kit is the fourth member of the band. The band plays songs from every era of Rush’s career. “We love it all,” Mark says. We’re huge Rush fans just like everyone who comes out to see us play.

Catch the band when they visit your area and experience nearly 40 years of Rush’s great music with Sun Dogs!

Sun Dogs played around hour and 45 minutes, with a short intermission and no encore. All of the band members, took time out after the show, signing autographs and engaging with fans.

The Four Horsemen – The Album Quality Metallica Tribute

Maybe you haven’t heard of us. Maybe you have and want to know more. We are musicians with a love of the thrash metal era. The 80’s music that changed the game. As a result, seeing the show, it is truly electric, in addition to hearing the songs played correctly with ferocity. You want to be the most important aspect of that show – you need to be where we are live.

Our Fans:

The fans are the only reason we exist. Our fans are – simply put: Thrash Metal Metallica Fans. The best in the world. We take the music, sound, energy and our crowd seriously. Few tribute bands pay close attention to the precision and dynamics of the band they tribute. There is no glossing over parts when it comes to our band. You will hear every blistering fast double bass drum line, all the technical drum fills, guitar harmonies, solos, bass guitar shredding and guttural vocals you hear on the albums.

The Four Horsemen Looks:

We don’t look like anyone in Metallica. While our singer, sings with grit, but does not sound exactly like James. We take pride ourselves, in being nearly album quality in delivery while putting on a very lively stage performance. We are utterly decimated at the end of the night. Drenched in sweat, blisters and a ton of gear to break down. But you will never hear us complain. Most of our live shots are blurry, because we are always moving and thrashing. Being proud of those ‘bad’ pics. Means we are doing our job right.

The Four Horsemen played around hour and 45 minutes, skipping the intermission and no encore. All of the band members, took time out after the show, signing autographs and engaging with fans.

The Four Horsemen Musicians are:

Eyes of the Nile, at Tally Ho Theater, Leesburg VA.

Eyes of the Nile – DC’s Premier Iron Maiden Tribute

Eyes of the Nile formed in late summer of 2015, when Chris answered a Craigslist ad placed by Navid Rashid for a Maiden tribute. A few emails and a recording of the chorus of “Flight of Icarus” later. The two realized they knew each other, and had crossed paths in the Northern Virginia’s music scene. With a mutual respect for each other’s work, they decided to recruit other musicians to play the classic Maiden catalog.

About The Band Members:

Chris is a conservatory trained professional percussionist with the Navy band in Washington DC. Who has also played countless shows with prominent DC area cover band Dr. FU. Navid is currently the vocalist/guitarist and songwriter in Iris Divine. A progressive metal band signed to Sensory Records. Several auditions later, the strings came together with Daniel Tidwell (vocalist/ guitarist/ songwriter of Terracide) and Jason Hurley on guitar, and finally, DC transplant Jonathan Kennedy on bass.

With a shared love for the music of Iron Maiden, Eyes of the Nile is committed. We deliver the songs with emotion and intensity. While you may hear a vibrato reminiscent of Bruce Dickinson, Harris’ signature Fender bass tone, or Clive and Nicko’s rhythm nuances. The band has chosen to forego stage props and costumes. Eddie the ‘Ead might pop up at any time, and keeps the focus where it belongs – on the music of Iron Maiden. Which is some of the greatest in the history of heavy metal.

The Show:

Eyes of the Nile was the opening act for The Four Horsemen at Tally Ho Theater. The band played for around forty five minutes, while playing 10 songs. Most all of the band members, took time out after their show, to come out and hang with the crowd, signing autographs and engaging with fans during The Four Horsemen show and afterwards.

The Eyes of the Nile Musicians are:

  • Navid Rashid – Vocals
  • Jason Hurley – Guitar
  • Daniel Tidwell – Guitar
  • Chris DeChiara – Drums
  • Jonathan Kennedy – Bass Guitar
