Zoso, at State Theater, Falls Church VA.

Zoso, The Ultimate Led Zeppelin Experience

The Beginning of Zoso:

Zoso was founded in 1995, to perform a accurate rendition of Led Zeppelin. For Zoso it is much more than just being a tribute band. Zoso embodies Page, Plant, Bonham and Jones in Spirit and talent.

Each member has been selected to portray the appearance and playing style of their counterparts As one of the longest Led Zeppelin tributes, they have performed over 2400 live shows around the world including major festivals such as Boonaroo and Rib America Fest.

Live Shows:

The live shows are more about the aura and feeling, creating a unique atmosphere. Band members master the instruments, with spot on vocals, stage persona, sound with visual imagery recreating the music and magic of a Led Zeppelin concert. Zoso played around two and half hours with the encore. Never missing a beat and looked as if they have been playing together for a over 24 years.

They energized the crowd and interacted with the audience via playing at the edge of the stage and handing drumstick and picks to the fans. With a projected light show and stage lighting. Several of the band members, took time out after the show, engaging with fans throughout the venue. Even bringing a teen on stage and equipping him with a bass guitar and taking pictures with him. Several fans I spoke with prior and during the show stated that they had seen the band several times prior and would see them again.

About Completely Unchained:

A Van Halen Tribute Band going by the name Completely Unchained, that gives the look and feel of being at a Van Halen Concert.

Completely Unchained:

The Band called Completely Unchained are four talented and creative musicians that re-create the ultimate Van Halen production. The attitude, sounds, excitement, energy and most of all the fun that Van Halen produced, as one of the best rock bands in the world. Starting off by reproducing the very best of the original line up, then merging the “Van Hagar” era with some David Lee Roth solo hits, completes a whole catalog of the greatest hard rock songs ever recorded.

Nothing comes closer to Van Halen than Completely Unchained.

You’ve just got to see it to believe it. Collectively, these boys bring something special to “Completely Unchained” David Lee Roth’s screams, wit & athletics. Eddie Van Halen’s legendary guitar sound & riffs. Michael Anthony’s bass & back round vocals. Alex’s thunderous percussion.

They have always loved what “VAN HALEN” brought to the music industry, not just in songs & guitar skills, but in attitude & energy. It’s what you will witness when watching them as they perform their rendition of a “Van Halen” show as “Completely Unchained”.

Completely Unchained Progression:

It’s all the Magic, Fun & Pure Energy that made “Van Halen” the most entertaining & intriguing artist of all time. “Completely Unchained” is not a copycat tribute band, they bring too much of their own magic to the stage. Instead “Completely Unchained” seduces their audience members to participate in what they call “The show” and that “Show” is all the Lights, Magic, Sound & Spirit of “Van Halen”.

  • Gene Henrikson on Vocals
  • Jake Miller on Guitar and Vocals

Jon Ryan think the only thing that drives us in the music scene is passion, our love for performing, and songwriting. The Fellow Craft, being a speculative term for a Stonemason learning their craft, kind of plays into that, I think. We enjoy what we do, and we enjoy doing it with the rest of the scene.

It’s a growing process, and the more we play, the better we get at it. As far as what we sound like, well… We’re in a complicated relationship with our sound, because we don’t want to be boxed in to any one type of music or genre to the detriment of the song. That said, we tend to fall back on indie, blues, and grunge rock genres in the majority of our songs.

We take a lot of care and pride in crafting the message of each song, so we hope people take something away from the lyrics as well as enjoying the music. That’s why we tend to write about poignant issues of our time like gun violence, untimely death, or homelessness while also trying to lift our audiences up with undertones of hope, solidarity, and love.

Fellowcraft’s Progression:

We do our best to stay progressive and relevant by touching on subjects that are personal to us. At any given Fellowcraft show you’re going to hear songs that we hope will lift our community up, encourage personal well being, and inspire our friends and coworkers.

Songs like Hold the Line fit into this vein. We also tend to dive head first into themes that are inspired by pop culture, film, and literature. For example, JR has been influenced heavily by writers like TS Eliot, Dylan Thomas, and Alan Ginsburg. Our first song tomorrow is Proliferation Nation, a song about the endless struggle against gun violence. We might even throw in a Chili Peppers cover, it is my birthday after all.

About Deja Foo, Foo Fighters Tribute:

Deja Foo, A Foo Fighters Tribute captures the look and feel of Foo Fighters.

How Deja Foo Came About

Kevin, Brett and Steve all used to play in another Richmond Virginia band and we all thought that Richmond needed more Foo Fighters in it’s life. The local venues needed the face melting, ass kicking, fuck slinging that only Foo Fighters bring.

Shit, seems like they might be the last great real rock band. I digress, Steve thought of joining another local band, a Kiss Tribute Band (then I could have been the Kiss Guy – that guy’s awesome and shreds the hell out of a guitar).

Steve’s wife suggested that I put together a Foo Fighters Tribute band. I started making calls, it took almost 6 months to get all the right players for the band. I was trying my damnedest to keep from using the same guys as the old band. You see how that worked out.

We started rehearsing and shit started getting tight. Songs like Everlong quickly came together and our set-list grew. We started out just trying to learn every song off the Greatest Hits album, but now we’re almost 40 songs in… I think we might be getting the hang of this. We still practice every week. We’re working our way through the archive of Dave Grohl’s song writing shenanigans.

Deja Foo’s Progression

We still scrape the internet to see what tricks they do live. Yes, we watch a lot of YouTube. I just watched the Tampa, Florida show the other day. Gotta get that gab that Dave does, the tricked out drum kit of Taylor Hawkins (he’s come a ways since the days of backing Alanis Morrissette), the rumble of Nate’s super bass sound. The whole thing. So, there you have it. Out of the ashes of a local Richmond Virginia band we came to be.

Now we get to run, scream, and melt faces while playing the greatest songs of our age. As far a drive, we wanna be the second best foo fighters band. We are super critical of ourselves and always want a show that’s musically on point and as close to a real foo show as possible.

Deja Foo: The feeling that your seeing the Foo Fighters while watching the best Foo Fighter Tribute band on earth. Come to a show and experience Deja Foo yourself! Richmond Virginia’s finest tribute to Foo Fighters…coming to a venue near you…

About A Song for the Deaf, The Ultimate Queen of the Stone Age Tribute:

A Song for the Deaf, The Ultimate Queen of the Stone Age Tribute captures the look and feel of Queen of the Stone Age.

Northern Virginia’s ultimate Queens of the Stone Age tribute band! Hide your wife, hide your kids, it’s Queen of the Stone Age music.

How A Song For The Deaf Evolved

A Song For The Deaf, was formed by Matt about 1 year ago by putting an ad on Craigslist because Queen Of The Stone Age is hands down my favorite band of all time. I had been in many original bands over the years, such as Changes Daily, The Grizwalds.

Back in the mid 90’s Matt was an original member of the band The Aquabats In my native Southern California. That band was most famous for having Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker on drums. Anyway, forming A Song For The Deaf was a slow process.

Andy was the only drummer who auditioned, and Matt knew right away that he was our guy. Andy also plays in the band Alluvion, which is a well known metal band from Fredericksburg that has been around for many years.

Matt met Drew and we bonded over our love for music and asked Drew to try out on guitar and backing vocals after the search to find a lead singer was not working out. Matt reluctantly decided to move to lead vocals.

Drew most recently played in a hard rock cover band called the Sex Raptors. Brad is a multi-instrumentalist that can play bass, guitar, trombone and who knows what else. He’s played with many musicians all over the East Coast playing jazz, rock, swing and whatnot.

Drew has a project called Gunson Roses that he puts together for shows from time to time. Matt is a fan of Josh Homme, but as I said, Queen Of The Stone Age is my all time favorite, and love’s listening to their music, but performing it live is just a whole other level of fun.

A Song for the Deaf also played with Deja Foo band this night. Please take the time to visit their pages also.
