About A Song for the Deaf, The Ultimate Queen of the Stone Age Tribute:

A Song for the Deaf, The Ultimate Queen of the Stone Age Tribute captures the look and feel of Queen of the Stone Age.

Northern Virginia’s ultimate Queens of the Stone Age tribute band! Hide your wife, hide your kids, it’s Queen of the Stone Age music.

How A Song For The Deaf Evolved

A Song For The Deaf, was formed by Matt about 1 year ago by putting an ad on Craigslist because Queen Of The Stone Age is hands down my favorite band of all time. I had been in many original bands over the years, such as Changes Daily, The Grizwalds.

Back in the mid 90’s Matt was an original member of the band The Aquabats In my native Southern California. That band was most famous for having Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker on drums. Anyway, forming A Song For The Deaf was a slow process.

Andy was the only drummer who auditioned, and Matt knew right away that he was our guy. Andy also plays in the band Alluvion, which is a well known metal band from Fredericksburg that has been around for many years.

Matt met Drew and we bonded over our love for music and asked Drew to try out on guitar and backing vocals after the search to find a lead singer was not working out. Matt reluctantly decided to move to lead vocals.

Drew most recently played in a hard rock cover band called the Sex Raptors. Brad is a multi-instrumentalist that can play bass, guitar, trombone and who knows what else. He’s played with many musicians all over the East Coast playing jazz, rock, swing and whatnot.

Drew has a project called Gunson Roses that he puts together for shows from time to time. Matt is a fan of Josh Homme, but as I said, Queen Of The Stone Age is my all time favorite, and love’s listening to their music, but performing it live is just a whole other level of fun.

A Song for the Deaf also played with Deja Foo band this night. Please take the time to visit their pages also.

A Song for the Deaf Musicians are:

  • Andy Murray on Drums
  • Matt Van Gundy on Vocals and Guitar
  • Drew Breivik on Guitar and Vocals
  • Brad Gunson on Bass Guitar
